A Journey Through Nature and Adventure

Norway, with its stunning landscapes, has always called to me as a traveler. Living in the small village of Sand in Rogaland, I’ve found the perfect base to explore the breathtaking beauty of this country. Though my village is a peaceful retreat, my heart is set on discovering the wild and diverse wonders that lie beyond it.

The Fjords: Norway’s Crown Jewels

One of the highlights of living in Norway is the proximity to its majestic fjords. Lysefjord, just a short drive from my home, is an iconic destination with towering cliffs and serene waters. I’ve hiked up to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) several times, and the view never gets old. Standing on that edge, with the world laid out beneath you, is a moment that stays with you long after you leave.

Further north, Hardangerfjord offers a different kind of beauty. Its tranquil waters, surrounded by lush orchards and dramatic mountains, provide a perfect contrast to the raw power of Lysefjord. Exploring these fjords, whether by boat or on foot, always feels like an adventure into nature’s heart.

Chasing Waterfalls and Hidden Trails

Norway is a country of waterfalls, and I’ve made it my mission to discover as many as possible. Latefossen, with its twin cascades, is one of my favorites—its roaring waters and misty spray create a scene straight out of a dream.

But it’s not just the famous spots that capture my attention. Some of the most rewarding experiences have been on quieter hikes, where I stumble upon smaller, lesser-known waterfalls hidden deep in the valleys. These moments of discovery remind me why I love traveling through Norway so much: there’s always something new just around the corner.

Hiking: The Best Way to See Norway

There’s no better way to experience Norway’s natural beauty than on foot. The country is crisscrossed with hiking trails that offer stunning views, from the towering cliffs of Kjerag to the rolling hills of Rogaland. Each hike is an opportunity to connect with the landscape in a way that’s both grounding and exhilarating.

One of my favorite hikes is to the top of Kjerag, where you can stand next to the famous Kjeragbolten—a boulder wedged between two cliffs. It’s a challenging hike, but the reward is worth every step: the view from the top is nothing short of spectacular.

Final Thoughts

Traveling through Norway, and living in Sand, Rogaland, has been a journey of discovery and wonder. This beautiful country, with its dramatic fjords, peaceful villages, and endless outdoor adventures, continues to fuel my love for exploration. Every trip I take, whether it's a quick hike near home or a road trip to another region, reminds me why Norway is one of the most extraordinary places in the world.

As I sit by the fjord in Sand, planning my next adventure, I feel incredibly grateful for this life. Norway is not just a place I live-it's a place that lives in me, inspiring me to continue exploring, traveling, and embracing the natural beauty all around.
